Eni makes gas discover in Sicilian Strait

In Italy, Eni is involved in projects in the Adriatic Sea, the central southern Apennines, onshore and offshore Sicily and in the Po Valley.

Eni has made a “significant gas discovery” in the Sicilian Strait with the Cassiopea 1 well around 22km offshore the coast of Agrigento, Italy.

Gas reserves associated with the discovery are estimated at around 565 Bcf (16 Bcm).

The well lies at a water depth of 1,837ft (560m).

In Italy, Eni is involved in projects in the Adriatic Sea, the central southern Apennines, onshore and offshore Sicily and in the Po Valley. The operator has stakes in blocks that cover 25,991sq km in the country.
